Pink Bus SJO → La Fortuna $55 per person
Very comfortable and a very personable driver. Unfortunately, the tour company is also bad with communicating like everywhere here. They gave info less than an hour before our pick up- I had already got an Uber to bring us to the first given location.
The bus was comfortable and the driver was amazing. It was only 6 of us so we had a good amount of space. Stopped at a nice souvenir shop for bathrooms and coffee/empanada, then finished the 2. 5h drive to La Fortuna.
Very windy road but pleasant. Arrived at Baldi Springs.
Baldi Resort and Hot Springs, La Fortuna
Very beautiful and photogenic, but not practical.
Rooms are all the way in the back so you pass 25 hot springs to get there- what a walk! Breakfast is all the way up there as well. It is open to the public if you buy a day pass so expect random folks around. Luckily, it's the low season right now and there are not many people trotting around.
The drinks suck! There is a "premium" bar where drinks are $20 -22 and is no different than the regular bar where they are $9 -12. There isn't many of the springs that come with a place to put your towel/shoes. The water slide (adult) and kids area look great though, but I did not get to partake due to timing and weather.
Haven't tried the food just yet neither.
The room is nice, but again, not practical. The bathroom is huge for no reason. My room at the Air BNB was the size of the toilet stall here! The shower has its own room, but it's only a waterfall Shower (not good for people w/ disabilities or people who don't want their hair wet) and there were limited hooks for towels. Well, the shower has NONE- no landing for items like soap and no rod for towels or cloths. And the water is barely considered warm.
Overall: too fancy for practicality.
Night Tour with Flow Trips
Anyways, went on the Night Tour and I was the only one- so after eating at a nearby restaurant, I went over there and started out 20 mins earlier which ended up in being a great decision.
Took about 20 mins to drive to the drop off location, embarked and floated downstream for 1.5h. Saw a few monkey troops, a night owl and a toucan- apparently they are some mean MF's.
When we got back, there was a hearty cooked snack and coffee awaiting.
The team was nice enough to drop me off in the center city and I walked around for a brief minute. Met a great Uber driver who brought me back to Baldi and then went into one of the hot springs at the bar.
Ehh...
